NEW SKATER
TRAINING

BECOME A
ROLLER DERBY
ATHLETE

Our full 2018-19 rookie training starts in September 1-3 p.m., on most Sundays through January. The final schedule is still being determined. Those afternoons will be glorious. We’ll help you build your skills in the lead-up to the spring 2019 minimum requirement skills testing and draft. We got you.

Calgary Roller Derby’s New Skater Training Program starts September 2018. In our weekend bootcamp Sept. 15-16, get a sweaty intro to all things roller derby. We’re talking learning to skate, stop, hit and fall safely. You’ll earn some bruises—and new pals.

READY
TO
ROLL?

WHO
IS THIS FOR?

Aspiring skaters 18+. Our teams are exclusively women and our referee crew is open to all genders. No skating or sports experience necessary—but it doesn’t hurt. (Under 18? Check out our Calgary Junior Roller Derby.)

WHAT
DO I BRING?

All the gear. Quad roller skates, helmet, mouth guard, elbow pads, wrist guards, knee pads. Wear clothes you’re comfy working out in and bring running shoes, too. We’ve got some trial gear available, but it’s in limited supply, so please reach out ahead to check. Visit Nerd Skates and they’ll get you set when you’re ready for your own gear. They even have packages that group all your equipment into a set. If you don’t want to buy brand new, there is a used buy and sell Facebook Group Page called: Roller Derby Gear Buy and Sell (Alberta-ish).
